Since 1781, when Kant established the philosophical foundation of schematism, generations of scholars have carried forward this intellectual legacy, advancing schema theory from philosophical speculation to the forefront of cognitive science, forging a core framework for understanding human cognition and learning.

Since 1781, when Kant established the philosophical foundation of schematism in his Critique of Pure Reason, schema theory has evolved over more than two centuries through Bartlett's experimental psychology validation, Piaget's cognitive developmental construction, and Rumelhart's cognitive science paradigm establishment, gradually transforming from philosophical speculation into a core theoretical framework for understanding human cognition and learning.
